Apple might be making an iPhone Ultra that costs even more.
Apple's most powerful phone, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, starts at $1,099, which is already quite pricey. But Apple is thinking about putting out an even more expensive phone as soon as next year. It might be called the iPhone Ultra.
This is what Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said in his "Power On" newsletter when he talked about the device.
Gurman says that Apple has talked about the iPhone Ultra inside the company and that it could come out in 2024. He doesn't say much about the new phone, but he does say that it could have a better camera and chip than the iPhone Pro Max, as well as a bigger screen. Some of the iPhone Ultra's features could be a bit more extravagant, like not having a charging port (relying instead on wireless connectivity and charging alone).
Even though Apple talks about new products internally, this doesn't mean that these products will ever be released. But there are signs that the company is thinking about making a line of very expensive items. Apple Watch Ultra, which has a bigger screen, more features, and a higher starting price of $799, is probably the strongest of these reasons. It stands out from the other Watch categories because it has a larger screen and more features. The company has also given its Pro models more features that set them apart from "regular" iPhones. The Dynamic Island, for example, is only on the new Pro models and not on "regular" iPhones.
Gurman's report comes after Apple CEO Tim Cook talked about iPhone prices during the company's most recent earnings call. During the call, Cook said that customers could probably be convinced to pay more for a high-end iPhone, which he thinks has become "integral" to their lives.
Cook said, "I think people are willing to spend a lot to get the best they can afford in that category."
